The heavenly sounds of the choir will grace the auditorium October 10 for “Meet the Choir Night”.
The Ladies, Concert, and Chamber Choirs will take the stage at 7:30pm to share their music with parents, students, and even the occasional teacher. This year’s music will mainly be soft with some songs in English and Latin, with each choir only doing two songs this time around the concert shouldn’t be very long.
Ladies Choir will be rocking the stage first with their songs “Pictures of Fall” and “American Folk Rhapsody” which will have a solo by freshman Sydney Rucker.
Then the Concert Choir will have their turn singing “Oceans and Stars” and “Dreams of Thee”, both of which are soft and sweet. “Dreams of Thee” will have solos by freshman Jane Purkey and junior Micah Ranson along with flute solos by senior Kara Shamblin and senior Hayley Preston.
Finally, saving the best for last, the Chamber Choir will take the stage and sing “The Road Home” and “In Flanders Fields”, with a solo by junior Maggie Bowlby.
“I was really excited to get this solo,” said Bowlby, “I really think this concert will be a lot of fun.”
The hard work put in by these students each day in class will have the chance to show in this first concert, so come out on the 10th at 7:30pm to support your friendly school choir. The Fall Concert will be the first for the year, but if you miss it don’t worry. The Holiday Concert will be December 13 at 7:30pm.
“ If any students would like to join the choir, anyone interested in singing is welcome and can see me in my office in the Music Building,” Annie Hancock, Choir Director.
