Baring Valentine's Day for Singles

By: Kindra Sarver

It’s that time of the year where love is in the air, which means some Febreeze is being sprayed by the single folks. It’s the day the lonely are dreading. Single people never really know how to handle Valentine’s Day. They are surrounded by couples, left and right. Thanks to people who understand the level of despair the singles reach on this day, there are options to celebrate it even if you are not in love.
One way to enjoy the holiday is by heading over to Hooters. On Valentine’s Day only, you can take a picture of your ex and shred it for some free wings. This would be the perfect solution to get over an ex for the newly heart-broken singles.
For the single ladies out there, don’t forget about the more important holiday which is Galentine’s Day. This newly-introduced holiday was created by Amy Poehler, also known as Leslie Knopes from the Parks and Recreation series. It redefined Valentine’s Day as a day for the ladies to get together and show each other love. Spend the day out with your girlfriends.
For those of you that do not want to spend money or just hate the day in general, the best option is to just treat it like a normal day. Put on some love-blocking goggles and avoid social media, the hallway full of flowers, and going out to eat.
There are always those broken-hearted ones that spend Valentine’s Day at home crying, snuggled up with their ice cream. If you are that type of person, there is no judgment here. I would like to recommend any of Nicholas Sparks’ movies if you just want to cry it out, if not check out How To Be Single. This is one of the few days that you can cry about being alone and it not look pitiful, so feel free to take advantage of that.
