The team has been working hard in the offseason to prepare themselves for the upcoming season. And also to achieve Coach Michael Bright’s main goal
The main goal this track season is to get people to states. States is where the fastest runners across the state go and compete in each event.
“I’ve been to states before. I have experience for what states are like. It’s always the goal to get there,” senior runner Dalton Fisher said.
Bright has set the bar pretty high for runners as well.
“My goals are always high. My main goal is to get as many scholarship offers as we can. It’s hard work but it can be done. I’ve built this program from the ground up. Some runners have potential to go to some good colleges,” Bright stated.
Freshman are coming in that will make a huge impact. One of those freshman is Morgan Galusha. His fastest mile time is 5 minutes, and 17 seconds. He has a chance to be the second or third fastest mile runner on the whole team. So he has a huge chance to be a varsity runner.
“I’ve been working hard during the offseason. I have been lifting and running a lot. I’m working for a varsity spot. I can’t wait to see what Coach Bright can do to help me improve. I’m just excited for the upcoming track season,” Galusha stated.
The first meet is at Parkersburg on March 18. The first home meet of the season is April 6. There will also be a JV meet on April 14.
