President Donald Trump was inaugurated into office January 20 becoming the 45th president of the United States of America. Some people have been waiting for this day ever since we found out he was running for the position. We all have different opinions on why we like and dislike him, but whatever your opinion is we can’t change the fact that he’s in office now.
After Trump was inaugurated, with just a flick of a pen he started undoing years of work that previous president Barack Obama had done. He has signed a number of executive orders aimed at fulfilling his campaign promises and rolling back previous orders signed by Obama. There are a lot of executive orders that Trump has signed off on already but some that have been controversial and remained in the news are.
Affordable Healthcare Act - “Obamacare”
The first day of being in office Trump aimed to rolled back Obamacare and replace it with something different. His administration has made promises to change this system, but have not yet defined their program.
CNN’s Jake Tapper said, “The goal is to insure the most amount of people, give access to the most amount of people, at least the amount of cost.”
Dakota Access Keystone XL Oil Pipeline
Another thing Trump has signed off on was the Dakota Access Keystone XL Oil Pipeline, as well as the second pipeline in Minnesota. Both have fueled many years of debate because of the pipeline being built through Native American Indian Reservation. However with the pipeline it would help relieve the oil train traffic coming through Minnesota. The pipelines will both be good and bad in some way because it could poison the water supply but the upside is that it will create many jobs.
Building A Wall
Another thing that Trump has done since being in office is to begin planning and identify funding to build a wall on the Mexican border. In which Trump stated that he would have Mexico pay for the wall. However, Mexico has stated they will not be funding the project. The order directs agencies to begin planning and identify funding for the project. Including sending requests to Congress. It also directs agencies to construct or contract out for more detention facilities at or near the Mexican border. This order also directs the hiring of an additional 5,000 border patrol agents, subject to funding. And it requires that all agencies identify any U.S. aid funds that have gone to Mexico in the past five years.
This is only a handful of executive orders Trump has signed off on he also has many other things he has also passed and many more. The ones that are talked about above are just the main ones everyone is more concerned about than anything because they affect us more than other things he has passed right now.
