Promoted Pro-fishing team

By: Ashtun Welling

Principal Will thinks it is time we start a pro-fishing team. Current fishing club adviser Joel will be the coach for the school fishing team.
“Fishing is one of my favorite activities, I think it’s a great idea to make a pastime more competitive. I can’t wait until reel in first prize,” said Miller
There are a least ten different items your tackle box should have such as extra line, extra hooks, bobbers, sinkers, plastic worms, a variety of lures, needle nose pliers, first aid kit, and sunscreen.  Fishing can be a great pastime as well as stress relief too. It’s a way to get connected with nature while socializing. More than 50 percent of Americans are overweight. Being outside and being active helps to make you feel better and encourages a healthier way of life.
“I wanted a way to bring the club’s dream into a reality, to get more students outside while having a blast,” said Miller.
The team has been meeting outside of school at Cedar Lakes, bringing along their tackle boxes to master the art of catching fish. It’s all about patience and reeling in the line. Fishing is a lifetime skill and activity that can be enjoyed at any age. The team will be having their first competition at Statewide on April 9, a Muskie Fishing Tournament.
