If you have yet to find your destination for this October 31st then consider making your way to the Ripley High School parking lot from 6:30 pm to 7 pm where the Ripley FFA is hosting its annual Trunk or Treat. This is a major event for our school bringing in easily over a thousand people.
It is said by advisor Craig Canterbury that “The avenues are Ripley’s trick or treat jackpot.” So it would be easy to make your way around them after visiting this event.
Other clubs such as FCA, Youth Leadership, Young Democrats, National Honor Society, and Main Street Teens have already signed up to join the FFA club in handing out candy this Halloween night. If other clubs are interested in joining this event they should contact Mr. Canterbury as soon as possible.
This activity was created to help bring the clubs together for an evening filled with fun activities. The only major benefit from this activity is from the children of Ripley who go home happy. That and the dentist will have a few extra cavities to fill in the following weeks.
The majority of students involved spend plenty of time planning their costumes to make sure the evening is enjoyable for them and the children who pay a visit. Some of previous years costumes include Seniors Jami Crawford and Jacob Starkey as Donald and Daisy Duck, Canterbury as Charlie Brown, and even Senior Megan Casto and her goat both dressed up as hot dogs.
Senior Mercedes Quick says “It is always fun to see the different costume ideas that everyone has. They get better and better every year.”
Our school is filled with comical people making any activity an adventure. This year’s students should easily make it the best year yet.
The more the merrier so make sure to remind everyone that there will be plenty of candy and fun here at our school during Tuesday night’s Trick or Treat activities.
