Ferrell is known for inappropriate jokes and childish characters like Buddy the Elf and Mugatu from “Zoolander”. When he pairs up with John C. Reilly, they are a better team. The two have worked on “Step Brothers” and “Talladega Nights,”which were big hits for teeangers.
In “Holmes and Watson”, Sherlock Holmes and John Watson start off being friends in their childhood and then becomes detectives. They were to view a trial for Moriarty, a criminal mastermind, but the two men get distracted by a mysterious package. This leads them to missing half of the trial. They travel to Buckingham Palace (which is the Queen’s home) and find a dead body. They try to figure out who did it and catch him before the Queen is murdered.
I personally love Will Ferrell and to be honest, I really liked the movie overall. My favorite scene was the “selfie” part where Sherlock and John tries to take a picture with Queen Elizabeth. They were trying to make duck faces and peace signs just like teenagers do in today’s generation.
Queen Elizabeth is an important character. She hosted the surprise party for the detectives and she becomes the next intended victim for the killer. Two women who are “doctors,” or detectives, from America to try to figure out the killer as well. They provide a love interest to the two men.
Teenagers and adults who enjoy comedy would most likely watch something like “Holmes & Watson”. However, many reviews online talk about how the movie isn’t that good. On IMDb, it is approximately 3.4/10 and 8% Rotten Tomatoes. People say the jokes weren’t funny. If you like stupid characters who crack a glass case of killer bee and lets them loose, then you’ll enjoy this.
The movie just came out on Christmas Day and is still in theaters. It is rated PG-13 for comedy, some startling scenes, and little violence and gore. It is showing at the Regal Cinemas Grand Central Mall, Marquee Cinemas, and other movie theaters nearby. If you love Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly then you should definitely check it out.
