Competitive gaming has been growing for decades and there are many professional teams that go to tournaments and compete against other professionals. Ripley has not ever been in the scene of a gaming team, until now. A team will be forming but has not been officially announced. The name is going to be Ripley Gamers.
Ripley High held a meeting talking about whether or not something like a gaming team would help out the community. The first and only meeting was held March 22 and Sloof Lirpa was the one that called for the meeting.
Sloof Lirpa said, “The meeting that was held decided that there would be a team within the next weeks.”
The gaming season will begin April 10th of this year and will end on the last day of school,June 5th. Tryouts will begin April 5 and will last until April 9. Anybody is eligible to try out for the team, on April 9th students will be chosen to be on the team.
Sekoj Ynnuf said, “I want to be on this team because I love to game and it would be cool if I could be a part of something I love to do.”
There will be traveling involved to compete against other schools. There is not a sponsor yet but there will be one eventually. Corsair will be sponsoring to help pay for better or more equipment..
Practice is optional Monday to Friday after school, other than that competitors are able to practice at home.
Laer Ton said, “Practice is easy. All you have to do is play to try and improve.”
